Different Countries, Different Requirements
Originally published 26 November 2024 · Updated 6 October 2026
The right visa process depends on your passport, destination and purpose of travel. A checklist from one country may not work for another.
Your destination and purpose matter
Tourism, business, study, work, medical travel and transit can involve different routes. Check the permitted activities and the current application instructions. An electronic authorisation is not available to every passport holder or for every trip.
The documents can differ
Travel plans, accommodation, funds, an invitation, enrolment information or employer details may be relevant in different circumstances. These are examples, not universal requirements. Use the official checklist for your route.
Online does not always mean no appointment
Some applications are made online; others require physical documents, biometrics or an interview. Check the submission process, appointment steps and any instructions received from the authority.
Check each part of a multi-country trip
Consider your main destination and all transit points. Where a shared visa area applies, use its current official instructions to identify the correct application authority. Do not assume one visa covers every stop or permits every activity.
Keep the information current
Official immigration and embassy websites are the source for current requirements. TopVisa can help you work through the forms and supporting information, with the scope confirmed for your trip. No preparation service can guarantee approval or entry.
